Parker McCay Counsel, Elizabeth M. Garcia Elected as Vice President of the Burlington County Bar Foundation
Mount Laurel, NJ, June 8, 2011 - Parker McCay counsel, Elizabeth M. Garcia, was recently elected as Vice President of the Burlington County Bar Foundation for 2011-2012. She was sworn in during the Installation of Officers Dinner held on June 3, 2011 at Valenzano Winery, Vintner's Pavilion, in Shamong, New Jersey.

Formed as the charitable arm of the Burlington County Bar Association in 1986, the Bar Foundation seeks to foster and maintain the honor and integrity of the profession of the law, and facilitate and further the science of jurisprudence. As Vice President of the Foundation, Ms. Garcia will assist in leading the organization's efforts to enhance the members' ability to practice law competently and ethically, as well as promote a better understanding by the public of legal problems, lawyers and the justice system.

Ms. Garcia, a Trustee for the Burlington County Bar Association, concentrates her practice in the areas of Civil Rights and Government Liability, Labor and Employment, and Municipal and Governmental Relations. She has represented public entities for approximately 10 years and currently counsels public sector employers with regard to a wide variety of employment issues arising under federal and state anti-discrimination laws, "whistleblower" laws, family and medical leave statutes, and the Fair Labor Standards Act. She also conducts training for management employees on such topics as sexual harassment and equal employment opportunity compliance.

In addition, Ms. Garcia represents municipal clients before the Public Employment Relations Commission ("PERC"), in issues including unfair labor practices, mediations and arbitration. She is also well versed on civil service and pension laws. Ms. Garcia has also defended public entities in sexual harassment lawsuits and several discrimination lawsuits, including racial and disability discrimination. In 2008, Ms. Garcia was the recipient of the prestigious Robert W. Criscuolo Award, presented annually by the Burlington County Bar Association to a young attorney committed to the legal profession and the community.
